FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE For additional information and news media inquiries, please contact: FIREWORKS SAFETY HOTLINE Bethesda, Maryland (June 2003) — The National Council on Fireworks Safety (www.fireworksafety.com) is urging Americans to take extra care when celebrating with fireworks this Fourth of July. The safety education group expects the use of fireworks to rise dramatically as Americans celebrate with a renewed sense of pride and patriotism. As part of its annual safety campaign, the NCFS is sponsoring a nationwide safety hotline for radio, television and newspaper reporters to interview experts on the safe use of fireworks. HOTLINE NUMBERS: DATES: Monday, June 23 through Thursday, July 3 HOURS: Weekdays, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET The team of hotline experts includes: Julie Heckman, executive director of the American Pyrotechnics Association; Roger Schneider, Ph.D., a leading expert in explosives and pyrotechnics and consultant to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers; and Scott R.
